wintek strike april 2009

Students and Scholars Against Corporate Misbehavior (SACOM) keeps up the pressure on Apple and its Taiwanese-based supplier Wintek with a new report detailing Wintek’s suppression of a large (7,000) but short-lived wildcat strike by workers in Dongguan, China in April of this year. (see this for an account of the strike - in Chinese)

Wintek also faced protests in Taiwan in May over layoffs of over 700 employees in December, 2008.

The workers may have some leverage via Apple since Wintek may be an important supplier for a new touchscreen product coming out in 2010.
